In lessons with me, singers will find the tools needed to access their authentic voices, establish a strong technical foundation, and incorporate mind-body awareness practices.

My master’s degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy gave me a depth of knowledge on the instrument of the voice, with an emphasis on vocal health. I also believe that a healthy, happy singer is more than just their instrument, which is why our lesson time will include personalized attention to one’s life experiences, personality, and ideals, as well as time for self-reflection.

As an active performer, I sing many styles, including Classical, Music Theatre, and Pop, and love to teach singers of all genres.

I am a Certified YogaVoice® Instructor.

My private studio is located in Roanoke, Virginia. I am also able to offer online lessons to singers age 15 and up.

What People Are Saying

“I must admit I was anxious about taking vocal lessons, but I wanted to be a better choir member, so I took a chance. And am I ever happy I did! Asherah is an intuitive teacher who helped me sing better in so many ways. I gained confidence and began to actually sing out. I learned skills that I still use whenever I sing whether alone or in a group. I know I can sing better, but just as important, I enjoy singing more because I have more confidence! Thank you Asherah!”

— Sheila B.

She has a great sense of humor that helps each lesson go smoothly. Also, she has a lot of patience!

She appreciates a wide range of music and can help you accomplish your goals in a variety of genres. I recommend her without reservation!”

“Asherah is passionate about music and teaching. She is personable and really has a way of getting you past any obstacle you may have vocally. She helped my daughter become more confident in her abilities and elevated her skill level. Music is so much more than dots on a page, it is uplifting and empowering. Asherah's experience will help you reach all new levels. Highly recommend!”

About me, your teacher:

I contribute to the fabric of humanity as a soprano, teacher, conductor, pianist, concert-goer, and environmentalist.

Sometimes in music, there are moments that are almost out of body, when a serene sense of clarity sweeps over you, and profound love for all living things fills your body.

While caffeine may be the most addictive substance known to humans, I don’t know...

Once you’ve experienced the sweeping power of a musical performance, you will never be able to quit. Fortunately, participating in musical activities and listening to music makes people more compassionate, healthier, happier, and just generally better human beings.

Through every student, every listener, every choir member, and every collaborative artist partnership, we contribute threads to the fabric of our human experience and the health of the earth.
